 What yould you do?

My friend Marko and I got an email from a guy who asked to sell him a Magic 264 Cartridge. Marko explained that we do not sell cartridges, that he can order a PCB from anywhere he wanted, as all the files for that are released for free. He kept insisting that he cannot do that, so Marko agreed to send him one of his PCBs, along with a few ICs. Now, when the package arrived, the guy didn't want to take it as he was supposed to pay VAT of around 5 euros. He then blamed and mocked Marko for VAT. We tried to explain that VAT does not have anything with us and that it is how his country operated with packages.

After a lot of mailing back and forth, he payed 5e and took the package. He then assembled the cartridge and then started to complain how some programs do not work, or how some games after he resets the Plus/4 do not show the menu. Marko again tried to explain to him that reset functionality does not work on Plus/4 the same as on C64 and that some games simply cannot be resetted. But, the guy kept pushing. I have then answered to the last round of complaints.

What would you do?

Mail exchange in in the messages below.

Redirect to /dev/null? This person seems to be awfully similar to the idiot frequenting from time to time the Plus/4 topic in index.hu forum and gets every time banned. That guy is completely hopeless. Probably this one too.

Well, now that was a kind of d*ck move. Why did you send that idiot with his complete inability to comprehend things here? Now, he might come and pollute this place with his obnoxious stupidity. sad

@gerliczer: You might be right. That guy is from around Szeged and uses a lot of different names. And the style is _very_ similar.

@zzarko: as gerliczer said: redirect to /dev/null. Mark him as a spam sender and ignore.

Google search: Import tax who pays
You should find the buyer pays import tax including VAT to the delivery company.

The item is a prototype. It sounds like it's working so if they think it is not acceptable then remind them it was made for experimental purposes only as is.

I propose zzarko and Marco to next "Patience Nobel prize" happy happy happy

Being serious I can confirm, being my job, that any import operation has to pay the VAT of the *destination* Country. Goods payment does not care, then even a gift has to pay the VAT (for this reason at the shipment time, you are asked for a value).
The VAT % is different and depends by the destination Country fiscal laws.
A shipment of goods between 2 CE Countries is not an import operation then does not pay the VAT.
And final: Serbia is outside CE, as we know.

 Re: What yould you do?

I think I know this guy from Szeged. He seems to cheat a lot of ppl, and try to show himself as the victim. Finally he pays, but then a series of mails will come, that the product is defective, he wants his money back, and he keeps the product, as he has no money to send it back. (In fact the products are OK, he just makes up stories.)

He knows EVERYTHING better, you cannot convince him. I think he is a sociopath.
I believe he has a huge collection (or continuous income), just by tricking other ppl out of their values, because the value of the goods does not worth the travel to kick his a**.

But he really pissed me off. I told him to visit him and take my stuff back with force, as he requested "just to test it" but he had the idea he could better use it than me. Finally he send my stuff back (I paid it!), just after I clarified my arrival date and he saw I am serious to use brute force and I am not afraid and capable to do it.
Unfortunately some guys do not understand any other language than this.
But from Serbia it is a little too far, except you are from Subotica (Szabadka). Or maybe you have friends there?

Suggestion:
I suggest anyone be to be cautious from buyer from Szeged, probably the same story will happen. He will get the goods almost free (complaining and writing looong mails will costs nothing, especially if you are unemployed), then sell it somewhere else.
So when you know the package should go to Szeged, and you know the address, stop, and double-check it, if it is a safe business or not. I have his address somewhere.

Even buying anything from him could be risky, I believe he will have no remorse to sell a defective product, and will lie that it was OK beforehand.
According to my experience he is a fluent liar.
It is sad, as I am also originated from that town, and 23°C team was also from there (TPPC and Absurd, and a lot of other coders, and good guys).

One single guy can do so much damage... The photo and name is fake, I am sure.
I think this guy from Szeged worth a serious "handling" after so many stolen values. The style and method of him is evident.
