One feature you might like the sound of is to add the Fire button. Holding Fire while pressing Left or Right would move the egg basket to the opposite diagonal direction as in... If the egg basket is Up Left, holding Fire + Right will move the basket to Down Right.
Nintendo implemented this to it's G&W Gallery titles, with a little practice you don't have to worry about catching every diagonal with a joystick or d-pad. Can make play a little more precise, and could be good as an alternative for keyboard play like Z,X+Shift for example.
Btw this is not a request, just thought I'd share as a just in case.
