@fredrikr: Your guess is right. However, it will result in significantly different user experience when your programme is run on different machines (as in PAL or NTSC). Would that be acceptable?
@siz: But he wants to use NTSC mode in a PAL system for speeding up something. That's his expressed intention. He already mentioned turning of the screen, so he must be aware of the side-effect, too.
