Actually very few things are missing to be a really great game, but I think most of them related to the 16KB limitation.
-Some moving background to have the real feeling of flying (some tile graphics, maybe only some clouds),
-Animated main plane like in 1942, when moving left/rigth (just 2 more phases),
-Instead of those crazy ellipses some real blowing of enemies
-More balanced scoring small planes vs bosses
-Sometimes the boss send out and ammo of the sequence, directly hitting me. This is unfair!
-Maybe a starting music witha PETSCII gfx 
Otherwise it is a nice game.
