I implemented this section because the creator of Super Mario (Miyamoto) also said in a youtube video he used this same "technique" in some early Mario Game to get the players find out on how to run.
I know it's not easy, but I think some 10 year old boy would find this pretty fast by just getting his head scratched about this gap in the first level.
Perhaps were already just too old for that or something..
And sorry, I understand what you mean..
But having players playing the game without running was very frustrating with the freeware version. It's almost impossible to reach farer than the third level without running. Dunno how they did get to the 6th level this way.. We do have all in all around 40 levels..
I hope it's not a riddle that is too hard for everyone, at least Miyamoto said it was a good move to add a section with a gap in the first level to get the players to run and jump.
Hope it wasn' t too disgusting and frustrating..
