I am not sure, if it will help, but the Plus4emu from IstvanV contains a built-in Debugger, showing the CPU,TED registers and the stack at the time of freeze. And a lot of other things I do not use at all 
I am not a really great programmer to tell, how much useful it is, but seems to support step-by-step bug hunting.
