 Selling a Plus 4

Hi there retro fans.
I have discovered my old 16 plus 4 in a box and tried to power it up. Nothing happened. No red light. nothing. There are a multitude of games with it and a tape player and joystick.

I would like to sell it. Do you know if these things are fetching any doer of money for spares and repair.. I mean it could be just a dead power unit - I have photos if anyone is interested?

Thanks
CK

-Where are you from or respectively where did you (not) send the package?
-a detailed list of the games will also be nice
-pictures of your complete offer
-total price for your complete package (exculding shipping costs)
regards,
Norman

Isn't a 16 plus 4 a VIC 20? wink

@ ck10_9: Have you had a look at the fuse of the power supply? It's at the rear end. The fuse lid is a standard bayonet type and can be opened with a small coin or a screwdriver. Unplug the mains cable first.

@ Hypex: The pictures are showing a standard Plus/4 with the usual power supply unit which has the square plug. Besides of the brand, there is no relationship between a VIC 20 and a Plus/4.

Galczinsky, I think Hypex was just making a joke happy (16+4=20) The pictures clearly show that it's a Plus/4.

Haha, apologies, I have always called a 16+4, I am not sure why?

I have not tried this, thank you for the suggestion, as you can see I clearly have no idea what I am doing! happy

Fusies: I just remembered that UK mains plugs are fused thermselves. Normally, it's a 13 amps fuse, ceramic type, allowing 3.12 kW load at 240 VAC . So you should check the fuse inside the plug as well.

The fresh pictures showing the working screens are brillant & clear. There's left nothing to improve. You should, however, test the keyboard - are alle keys responding at normal touch or does one ore some require "hammering in"?

If you can't get rid of the bundle locally, you perhaps may try offering it at Ebay Australia.

Here in Europe, a system of your scope would sell at approx. € 80 - € 200.

ck10_9, I checked the logs to see what you could have written to trigger the spam filter... and found that it was the word "analogue". That's a good word. A fine word that is. So let's not dwell on the details, let me just say that the filter was obviously at fault and I took out the part responsible. Sorry about that :-/

Thanks Gal and Csabo for your help.
I found a thread on this forum about the MHz for the tuning and my new Samsung coped very well.

Gal, I do have to hammer some of the keys in, is there anything that can be done to fix this?

And thanks for the valuation that is good to know happy

 Re: Selling a Plus 4

I'm also in Brissy, Australia.
I bought all 3 of my plus4's from the states a few years ago, they appear to be worth about double now
what I payed. USA is a good place to source them from as I suspect a lot of people bought them for
$49 when Commodore basically gave them away after they failed in the marketplace. Then due to a lack
of NTSC software people shoved them in their basements/attics till ebay came along. Only one of mine was
fault free though.
2 of them are now PAL modded and one has the 6510 cpu conversion.

Good iuck with the sale. BTW i've seen them go for over $200 AUD here on Ebay.

Hi Imperious.
Good to hear from you. You are making me feel like I should hold on to it for another 30 years haha.

I have posted it to eBay - I just hope the right people see it now.
Thanks for the valuation, here's hoping for $200 happy
