.. what if competition would be a game jam (Weekend/48h)? Everybody has a private life/job/kids but everybody can sacrifice 2 days?
I made few Ludum Dare (http://ludumdare.com/compo/) games few years ago and I can tell that it has own "bedroom coder" feeling.
