I used to play this chess variant with my dad when I was a kid. We also called it "French Chess" ("Francia Sakk" in Hungarian). I did a quick search on this and found that this chess variant is called "Giveaway chess". However, I've never seen this on the Plus/4 either, so I can't help you there...
