Anyone have any idea about what I can do with the power circuit inside the c116 to reduce / eliminate the heat inside the console, it really is not good.
Yeah, yeah I know leave it alone, but seriously there is nothing wrong with mods that do not affect its physical appearance or functionality, while improving the console's life span is there?

Replace the ROM's with 27C128 eproms, ie CMOS eproms. A CMOS eprom will draw around 20ma of current whereas the 23128 ROMS draw as much as 200ma and get hot to the touch. A CMOS eprom will not even get warm.

Yeah, yeah leave it alone. 
I said you are free to do as you please. Saving a machine for a longer life is always good any way so fair one, plus you have 2 of them.

Internal heat could be a real issue in that small house for those ICs, if you want to use them.
You may do some real HW hacks, like build in a small slim CPU fan from an older (bad) notebook
It is hardly higher than 5-10mm, one 5V DC could be fine for low RPM.
Very-very small space inside. maybe a ACER Aspire 3100 CPU fan?
an other issue you may do to dissipate heat directly from components that use aftersales memory heatsinks from eg. Zalmann, apply with good quality heatpaste, like Austrian Noctua (I think they are the best).
I saw such application in Levente's post once upon a time.

Ok, so I have replaced Basic and Kernal with 27c256 chips (I cannot get 27c128 locally), and I have applied chip heat sink to RAM, PLA, 8501 and TED. I really like the idea of a 5v laptop fan, I just have to figure out where to put it, so that a) it is effective and b) it has the absolute least impact on the console in terms of modification.

OMG! Just the two eprom took 400mA? That was a real breakthru from heat point of view, you should feel the difference on the PSU itself.
