The "Space 1999" development was very interesting to follow (did so years ago and thought it should get a plus/4 port  ). Search some ORIC forum for that. It's a good read and lots of stuff is not limited to ORIC but applies to all isometric games.
Also Twilighte's other stuff is worth checking out.
