 Any advice for SD2IEC on a plus/4?

I bought a couple, one for a cbm64 and one for a plus/4. the hardware is done (i have done some holes in the plastic :|), but i'm afraid to connect it since electronic is not my thing.
Before i try, any advice? does anybody has it in his plus/4? i only own one!

I installed correctly in a c64, i followed the same steps in the plus/4, with a working SD2IEC tested in a c64, with a working SD card.
device not found error.

does somebody has it? is it fully compatible?

Re: Any advice for SD2IEC on a plus/4?

I have the SD2IEC with its accessory daughterboard. It works perfectly on my C64, SX-64, C128DCR, and Plus/4. I have the SD2IEC set as drive 9. I've used the SD2IEC with 2 gig and 4 gig SD cards.

Does the SD2IEC support Disk images with REL,SEQ, and USR files?

I asked the seller of the SD2IEC about SEQ, REL, & USR Files and the answer I got is that the device is READ ONLY.
Does anyone out there have different info??

The SD2IEC will open a .d64 file. If you create a .d64, you can save it as a .d64. As for REL, SEQ, and USR files. I've only opened .d64s with PRG and SEQ files. No problems there. I have not tried REL or USR files, because I have no need to access those kinds of files.

You contacted Tony Kim of NKCElectronics.com? Can you give his exact response to your question? Outside of .d64s, I can save and load PRGs and SEQs without problem.

Re: Any advice for SD2IEC on a plus/4?

I solved it, it was something about my tester and me. Device is working, you can save prg files, load disk images, prg (don't know others). I think there must be an additional soft to run in the plus/4 to load disk images (like it is for the c64), but at the moment i only tried with prg files (the visuals in basic i show some weeks ago).
If you can mount inside the machine you will have a hard disk, that's quite amazing, before this i had a 64toPC that needed always a PC near it.

Re: Any advice for SD2IEC on a plus/4?

Thanks guys for the info.

The email I got came from "sales@Nikcelectronics.com with a statement that this was a"response from a Blackberry on ATT.." I don't recall seeing a name.

I asked whether I could load/save SEQ REL or USR filetypes to the current D64 image on the SD2IEC.
The response was that "the D64 image is read only".

Based on what you guys are saying, It seems like I should be able to:

Take a formatted SD2IEC, connect to a Plus 4, and create a new D64 image.
Proceed to write programs on the plus4 and save to the D64 image currently active on the SD2IEC. (At least PRG and SEQ filetypes for sure)

Is this correct??
THANKS!
Mike

Re: Any advice for SD2IEC on a plus/4?

I think so. I heard that the SD must be formatted at FAT 16, if you can't, you can format with a camera. (i didn't had to do that since they worked at first plug).
If you use it with a disk drive, the most easier way will be to put the switchs in the drive to work in "9" rather than soldering the points in the SD2IEC to put in another number than "8". You can work with both.
Now i will try with dsk files and other programs, but aparently works like my old 64toPC that worked with a lot of games.

Thanks Monoceros for the info. I appreciate it very much. Pls keep us informed as you discover more about using the SD2IEC with the plus 4.

With what program would you create a new .d64?

I use my SD2IEC with FAT32 SD cards straight out of the box. However, if you are upgrading the firmware, then the upgrade file must be on a FAT16 SD card.

Re: Any advice for SD2IEC on a plus/4?

For Robert:

Unless there is an SD2IEC command for this(?) I usually do it on the PC directly with a hex editor or the "create new disk image" option on one of the emulators.
BTW Robert - I emailed you some additional questions on the SD2IEC at the email address I had from last summer.

I downloaded the D64 "DC10b" from the dracopy site. Just load and read the directory. All the plus4 files end in "P4".

Sorry, I don't have personal knowledge of fibr.prg. Perhaps you can find it at
