No, they don't have external power. Even the flash-card drive. (The last one).

I will be trying day by day. 
And for now - the Plus/4 is on.
Going back to the topic; I think this weekend I'll write to Zaxon about the sid-card. We will see / hear what he tells us. Who knows, maybe he'll agree.
