 PC = > 264 (help, please)

Hi there. I realize it is pretty common question but I can't find any koherent info about it.

Today (finally!!) I became a proud owner of 264 machine.
I wanted to get Commodore116 but for now it appears to be next to impossible in my neibourhood so I bought Commodore Plus/4 with a diskdrive.

Could You find some spare time and write me here several links about
1) transfering emulator files from PC to the diskdrive
2) transfering emulator files from PC to the Commodore (if possible at all)
3) if there is any flash_card-based device for 264 - some links about it would be welcomed.

Sorry for trouble but I'm a new guy in the 264 world.
Well, talking about real machines anyway.

Greetz,
Yerz

 Re: PC = > 264 (help, please)

Hi,
I tried to check the HW section, but I could not find a direct link, so a short explanation.

Definitely there is no Plus/4 specific approach -or I am not aware-, but shared efforts with C64. So for 1551 I cannot tell you any useful method, I hope you have 1541 or 1541/II drive, maybe 1571 also OK.
Please read:

The older cables are very useful, but since the introduction of USB, and disappearance of Parallel cable from PCs, a new problem appeared: USB timing was not enough accurate to control the 1541 directly. You can build your own. not so complex, tons of documents on internet. As you knwo the name just now, it's easy.
Build it:

http://sta.c64.org/xe1541.html

Buy it:

Only recently a useful USB X -cable appeared...

Alternatively, there are expensive HWs could be used, managing HDD or SD card directly by the Plus/4, but it is really for people have too much money happy

If you're lacking a parallel port, there are very cheap (~10 EUR) PCI controller cards with a parallel port, e.g. at eBay.
I can't tell if they work properly with those cables though.

Many thanx for whole the help.
I will let You know about the progress. happy happy happy

MMS: I bought Commodore PLUS/4 and Diskdrive 1551. Hm. If there will be any problem then I'll try also on the second forum (was there another one, wasn't?). I do hope someone will be able to help, heh. Anyway - I will be trying! happy
Thx for the links!

Thomas: well, I have two PCs for such occasions. One is newer (based on USB) and one is older (with all required standard PC ports). Thx for help too. happy

Usual PC-->C= disk transfer stuff unfortunately won't work with the 1551 so you'll either have to purchase an 1541 compatible drive, or look for some other solution... obtaining a 1541 should be your best bet, as I guess (this will come handy when you'd try running 1541 specific programs later).

 Re: PC = > 264 (help, please)

THere are two PC - to - Plus4 solutions that I know about. 64HDD uses a PC parallel port to Commodore serial port adapter. 64TPC uses a PC serial port (COM1) to Commodore serial port adapter. Both allow full use of all PC mass storage devices as a hard drive for the Plus4 via Disk Image files. The 64HDD requires a DOS PC or you boot DOS from a CD if you have XP. The 64TPC uses XP directly with a GUI interface. The 64HDD supports several Commodore file types, but the 64TPC only supports PRG files.
