There is also some visible quality reduction in the dithering of the red circle. However, if the brighter pixels at the lower right corner are more of a problem, then it may make a difference to change the scaling of the U and V error with respect to the Y error (that is, how important is the color information compared to the luminance). This is fixed to 0.5 in the current version, but changing the value to 0.25 results in this image (using plain multicolor mode, of course, FLI would look better):

Now the bright pixels are mostly gone, at the expense of more merging of colors with identical luminance. Would it be a useful feature to make the color error scale adjustable in the advanced settings ?
