On a somewhat related note, would it be useful to have special support for reading images that use the Plus/4 palette, and converting those to the multicolor formats with as close to pixel exact quality as possible ? While it can already be done, it requires very specific conversion settings, image size, and input palette to avoid additional quality reduction due to interpolation and color mapping (particularly in the case of the very dark and bright colors which are clipped in the RGB colorspace).
The image opening/closing effect in the viewer can actually be enabled/disabled with a flag in the image data (perhaps a description of the data format would be useful ?), although there is no configuration option yet in the converter UI to change that. The effect can also be easily changed in the viewer source.
