 JiffyDOS (NTSC) for the Plus4 available

If news of this has already been posted, my apologies. For those who don't know, Eslapion now manufactures JiffyDOS (NTSC) for the Plus4. The cost is $8 US plus shipping. Paypal to eslapion(at)videotron.ca For more information on this and other ROMs and services he provides, contact Eslapion at the same address.

I have received a correction from Eslapion; though he lets me pay in US dollars, he normally requires *Canadian* dollars.

I'm curious as to whether this is the bugged Beta version, or if a fixed version has been released. Mine messes with TED's Test bit, causing random lockups.

Don't know, James. Who wants to write to Eslapion about this -- you or me? happy I've ordered one and will see how it works with my NTSC Plus4 (I might as well try it out with the PAL Plus4, too).

Boy, it must have been late last night. I got the price wrong on the JiffyDOS Plus4 chip; it is $12 CDN, not $8.

Also he offers

Upgrade ROMs:
- 318005-05 kernal update for C16 and Plus4 NTSC rev5 -> 8$ CDN
- 318004-05 kernal update for C16 and Plus4 PAL rev 5 -> 8$ CDN

His full price list is at

Yesterday I received the chip plus soldered-on on/off switch, along with my Behr-Bonz VIC-20 Multicart order. Tonight I will put the JD into the Plus4 and see how it responds.

I even found an interesting GEM there, a Plus/4 with JiffyDOS. Strange, I though only possible with NTSC machines (no PSU, and expensive):

Before Eslapion left the scene, I believe he was able to obtain and produce PAL JiffyDos for the Plus/4.

Perhaps I should try to contact him,

Eslapion is back on the scene! He verifies that he has PAL JiffyDOS for the Plus/4, in addition to NTSC JiffyDOS for the Plus/4.

Great info! I've just got an 1571, and till now it is a big dislike happy

Big and heavy, it takes a lot of space on the desk and not faster than 1541/II (OK, LED in nicer)

A JiffyDOS on both may put things to the right place grin

Robert, how has the JD in the Plus/4 responded? Do you have JD in your disk drive(s) as well? Is the combo well worth it?

I didn't know this ever existed for the Plussy - very exciting news!

Thanks,
Jay

 Re: JiffyDOS (NTSC) for the Plus4 available

i use jiffyDos (pal) with uiec and the speed is terrific, cause uiec firmware supports jiffyDos protocol.
For other drives ie 1541, 1551 you need special JD-Chip as well wink
