I have used greyscale only because it was easier to implement, and it also allowed all 8x1 pixel bitmaps to have their own pair of luminance values. However, there is also a version that adds colors (still in high resolution mode), although it is not very good yet. Here are a few example images and the modified converter program:

When viewing these with plus4emu, I recommend the following display settings:
- single buffered mode
- quality = 3
- line shade = 0.5
- blend scale = 1.3
- motion blur = 0.5
