The important part is the proper monitor - this means reset won't work as you lose all the registers and can't restart. But, like the freezer, I don't think it too much to specify that it needs interrupts on....or hit a BRK or something.
Once you have a cart that can do this then adding more tools should be easy enough - like the retro replay gets.
adding a SID+MMC to it would be great too! :D
