The C16 has only 16k of RAM installed, but unfortunately, this won't solve this mistery... The address decoding in the Plus/4 is incomplete. If you access RAM above $4000, the internal ram chips would still get selected and "talk" (the read value just repeats for each 16k pages). That's the problem...
