I have....many times in the past for other things. Its simply not possible if you want to move a lot of objects. Or draw large objects for that matter. Using a character map, I can draw a large character sprite "reasonably" cheaply. You simply can't do this with bitmap screens.

Luca: Can you restore the downloads from xeo3.org so that he can download the old scrolling demo?

Have a look at that and see the size of objects I can through around if I want to. You can't do that in a bitmap screen.
