Author's Comments
On 2014-09-15, the author commented on the game:

Far and away the worst game I ever developed. It's so bad.
Apologies to everyone who ever played it.

In my defence, it was the first one I ever did, and I did it at the same time as I was learning 6502. And I had to develop it on the actual C16 itself, on its in built assembler monitor doo-dah.

In a Facebook post on 2020-06-17, the author revealed the following:

I feel the need to defend my creations Airwolf and Commando for the C16. When these two games were developed, I face a number of hurdles in order to get them done, and these explain why these games are not as good as they could have been.

1. Airwolf was started on my first day at Elite Systems, a job which I had blagged my way into a week before, even though I didn't know 6502 assembly language at all.

2. I was the only member of staff working on the C16.

3. The only equipment I had was a C16, a joystick, and a monitor. I had no reference materials, no development tools of any kind whatever, except for pencils and squared paper.

4. I had to write all the code using the inbuilt m/c monitor. If i made any mistakes and needed to insert code anywhere, then i had to make a copy of the code below where I needed to update, and then re-insert it. There was no Kick-assembler or CBM Prg studio then.

5. When I added any graphics, i had to design them on squared paper, translate those images into Hex and add them.

6. During all this time I was learning to code, on my own, without help.

7. Neither game scrolls, because I had absolutely no idea how to do it. Weirdly, I can do scrolling on the C64, but the C16 still causes me problems. I can get it scrolling but it's nowhere near good enough.

8. All things considered, I'm pretty proud of those games, even if they do get regularly slated.

9. All of the above applies to Commando too.

If I'd had the level of support other C16 developers had at other companies, then I think both games would have been better. Unfortunately, things didn't work out that way.
