It depends on the _software_ you use with the cable! With The Star Commander, you have to grab the latest 0.82 beta from the homepage at http://sta.c64.org/sc.html and check 'Force async transfer'. That makes it work under Windowses, now including NT and 2000, with the help of a stand-alone tweak package.
