The TAP file we have, shows a bug when loading the third part during the "whole game" attempt: briefly, you are directly on fight when the part has been loaded, but that code doesn't set $FF12, occuring in garbled graphics.
Is that the Gremlin Graphics release or the Kixx re-release? Are the the same? Could have the latter been fixed instead?
In order to have our answer, we would need a dump of both the releases, if possible. |

I've uploaded TAP's for both the Gremlin and Kixx release. Cursory glance shows they might be the same, but we don't have yet the right tools to check with. |

@Crown, yes they look like they're absolutely the same tape copy. Unfortunately, on the Kixx tape the loading of the sword fight is broken: dump flaws or they'd actually released a faulty copy of the original? |

Probably dump flaw, the whole concept of the TAP archiving methodology is flawed, apparently the circuit which converts the analog signal to digital square wave is quite fiddly in the deck, that's one reason why the deck has a head adjustment screw.
It is a Novaload like tape that's usually a stable encoding, so probably the TAP has a few broken bits signals, would be pretty easy to fix with a proper visualizer tool, which we don't have yet.
I've recorded it in wav as well at ~380khz, so the data is secured, just need to write the ultimate tape archiving tool, coming eventually. |
