Hmm, first time I even did not recognise the changes.
Second look: I prefer the current one, sorry. I like these gold bars and the shaded borders. The other (new) one looks too simple for me.

I agree, I think the blue bars merge into the background too easily.
On a slightly related subject, I think the site's favicon could do with an update, it doesn't go well with LCD monitors in particular, so I've put together a suggestion, which has 16x16 and 32x32 versions:

The new favicon_test.ico is very good, but still can't tell the difference between the themes. Apart from the gold line.

Thx for the thoughts about the theme. the concept was just to polish the good old skin just a little bit. there's some improvements you don't see on the screenshot, more colorful flags etc. But, your opinion is the most important so i don't wanna disturb ya!
