What do you think about that we would like to release a 2nd DVD, with the following:
Zenith of Puberty / TEK
Monopsy 2 / Wilds
Notizen aus der Provinz / TEK
Shade / (Absence and Wilds?)
Crackers Demo 4
8 Shades of Black
Adventures in Mono / Absence
Thalassa / Fire
Oldschool / Assanssin
and some prodz from LimiTED compo
I think a voice commentary from the author (with his own language) would be nice
and the subtitles in english (only).
And of course in a real C+4 ! AND FOR FREE and DOWNLOADABLE of course !
What do you think ?

BTW: I don't know how much space all this would need but i think there shouldn't be only new stuffs. The DVD should also contain Chaos, Heartfixer, Silence and other "Classics" (We have enough of them )

My opinion about the money-thing: I remember there was some trouble about the first stock of the C64-Editions. If there is a free download, nobody can get angry - but if there is also a neat packaging, i definetly would buy one instead of downloading it.

Ok ok ok, let's try to recover this fantastic idea to release a very kewl DVD collecting the last demos as videos taken from the original machine with commentaries and all the rest.
Who is in: Ati Chronos Csio Luca Ingo (Luca is now under heavy meds because of the flu, Ingo the same, plus lotta work, but they shall kill babies in order to be in!).

I can contact many of these individually, let's decide a validating percentage and a brand new deadline. The past experience with cooperative demos teached me that you have to annoy ppl daily, and I'm ready to do it With charme, of course, and with help from everyone who can help.

I did mine, finally! Didn't record the 15 minutes monster, also because I guess it's useless, so I completed my two. Lemme translate both on a txt file then I'll send the whole pack.
Mermaid told me she doesn't
I contacted Murphy and bubis and sent a reminder to DCD and Csabo so now it's up to them.
Still no news from nukem, we'll see...

Ok, ppl answered badly, we don't care, we shall force the herd as ever.
Our target is: release the stuff around xmas. Our acceptable level is something around the 51% of all the requested voices. Our new and truly last deadline must be decided by Lacoste, in order to have the release ready for Dec/Jan.
I got nukem and that's a rare one taken, ok.
Chronos Csio and Larry: I continue toi assume theyr voices are in, though Lacoste never told me that (László you must speak frequently with me because of this! Communication is fundamental in these cases!).
Degauss did you finished yours?
Murphy has just learnt he has to talk simply in his own language, he will record it in the next week.
Mermaid restated she doesn't.
DCD and bubis had been tantalized about, but I prefer not to push and annoy, hence I'm a bit embarassed and I think 3 times before call'em

Apropo, which YAPE version did you use? With which settings? I spotted out the famous missing water spits for the first row of bubbles in Thalassa's mermaid part, that's like a fingerprint for YAPE! :-)

That is interesting. Wasn't this supposed to be made on a real machine ? Of course, if it was created with the AVI recording feature in YAPE, then the Larry's part in Cracker's Demo would have wrong colors.

I'm still enjoying the DVD. In several CD4 and 8SoB commentaries it's clear I "pestered" ppl (Ati), I was chewing ears (Murphy) and all the rest. Terrible! There were no DCD's commentary otherwise I expected "I would have 2 children but Luca asked me for a third one, then I had to decide it with my wife and..."!
I'm so sorry for this, probably we would be able to achieve both coopdemos even with no annoying bust by me. No, not only "probably": for sure we would!
It's a luck to recall that after the little flame here, this danger is gone once forever. Bright future by now, go go go +4 scene!

i'm on the dvd now, torturing in my dvd player everything is fine, my first thoughts:
(in random order)
1, thalassa is wonderful.. italian language is wonderful too.. my girlfriend likes it so much. she said: "its better than english i want to learn that.."
2, deutsch is not as nice, but the demos what presented by d.gauss is a true classics!
3, ati's voice somewhat scary
4,i noticed the "techy" aspect in the true coders commentary.. i didnt get half of that! but very entertraining especially when dcd said yeaa, it was 16.xxx dots and later i optimized it and decreased it to.. find it for yourself :D
5, and again big respect to laco who made the dvd (i know the whole fu**in' dvd format is a pain in the ass, mastering with american/asian shitwares consuming a lot of time..)
6, a little sidenote: the colorbars on the top of the dvd cover.. its in baad quality! i printed the cover with a color laser printer and the cover is high quality itself but the colorbars on the top is ugly!

@Lacoste: Kudos for all the good work you've done. I guess you also like some criticism, so here we go:
the good:
+ menus are slick and well designed (its good you picked csabos tune)
+ good idea to pick the bonus material (especially the photo-gallery)
+ the choice of demos feels absolutely right
+ subtitles work great and are plenty of fun to read (especially DCD's)
theres only one main bad-point:
ok, its from emulator but i think during the downsampling of the videos to 25Hz something went heavily wrong. the effect can easily be seen in "Notizen..." and "Zenith...": The interlace-picture doesn't appear to be interlaced, 50Hz-Effects like the Zoomer,Twister,Fence and the ~16FPS Effects like the Floormapper look "sedated". I don't know how much work that would be, but a better resampling would be great. (As far as i know, DVD is capable of 50Hz-PAL-imagery)
nonetheless: This is a cool major release!

Dr. Death: what do you think about this 25 fps resampled video (http://www.sharemation.com/IstvanV/nadp.avi) ? While it does fix the interlaced image, there is probably too much motion blur due to averaging frames, and fast scrolltexts can be difficult to read.

Ok, i don't want to dwell on this topic too much, but if i remember right, MPEG2 supports some profile that matches 50Hz (that interlaced one, half-images). This is more what i meant: capture in 50Hz and use the correct MPEG2-profile... But as i said: I don't want to dwell on this, the DVD is cool...

Yes, however it can also record videos without the averaging effect (although without PAL color effects due to using RLE8 format instead of YV12 - maybe YV12 without frame interpolation/averaging would be a useful option ?). The 8 Shades of Black and Crackers Demo 4 videos on YouTube were also resampled with this method to 30 fps.

Have you tried my emulator ? It has very accurate TED emulation, better audio sample rate conversion, can record TV emulation effects (such as those in MC Demo, New FLI, or Larry's extended sideborder parts), and - depending on the output format chosen - resample video as shown above. It can only record in uncompressed format, though, which is a disadvantage. Anyway, it is of course your choice to use whatever you want, it was just a suggestion in case you did not try it yet

Some guys from forum64.de tried to download the 2nd Coming dvd, but the download links in the article are broken. Is there an alternative download resource?
I wrote Lacoste already an email, the idea is to upload the 2nd coming to scene.org, to make it available for everyone. I've build an iso and splitted RAR-archives of the iso-file. Of course without permission from Lacoste i wouldn't upload it, so i'm waiting for his reply.
Perhabs there exists an alternative download resource. Do you have an idea?
