 Re: Molecule Man

Yes, of course wink My C116's keyboard needs to be fixed so I haven't thought about that one.
I also analyzed the level data but since Ulysses777 already made a fantastic map there's not much use for that. Unless maybe someone wants to write an editor wink

 Re: Molecule Man

This works fine on a Commodore 116, too!

 Re: Molecule Man

If you play it on a plus/4, do this...

>12A4 BF 08 BF 01 DF 01 DF 08

Less finger twisting and I like the cursor arrows anyway happy

About 7 years ago I had a closer look at that game and I even remembered where I put my notes. Couldn't resist to check if they are still there wink

The keyboard control table is located at...

>12A4 DF 02 EF 40 FD 04 7F 40
>12AC 7F 10 FB 80 F7 10 FE 10

... these are $FD30/$FF08 values (in pairs). Now you can redefine the keys to your liking. On plus/4, I like using the cursor keys (and left the others untouched).

 Re: Molecule Man

The end of Tomb of Tarrabash has a bug. You can not leave the ending screen ... (the sames as Mr. Puniverse).

In the code of Molecule Man exits a message for any end of the game.

 Re: Molecule Man

I remember analyzing that game completely about 8 years ago. First thing I did was remapping the keyboard control to the cursor arrows. Less finger twisting, at least on a plus/4 wink

If anybody is interested, I'll post the bytes. I just need to find my notes. Actually, I know where they are wink Yes, I'm la... err busy happy

 Re: Molecule Man

If memory serves me correctly, the original review of Molecule Man in Commodore User also stated that there was no joystick support, despite the manual saying that it did.

 Re: Molecule Man

We should add a flag to programs, and keep track of which one has an ending. Obviously all adventures do, Tom Thumb doesn't, Cuthbert Enters the Tombs of Doom doesn't. Sadly neither does Icicle Works. Xadium does (hard!), Tomb of Tarrabash does. So does Quadrillion happy

 Re: Molecule Man

Insanely difficult, you really need to plan your route through the game in advance, which was why I ended up making the map for it (which required several save states happy )

But it does have an ending (albeit small), which is uncommon in C16 games.

 Re: Molecule Man

I was always frustrated not being able to beat the game, and at one point I fed up and gave up trying it over and over again....
