Re: Plus/4 World now has "one-liners"...

@Luca
I don't think AVGN the movie will be played in Europe - and that's a shame. wink
And the picture you're refering to, do you mean the one whoich is also from Atari? That was a quick convert which I did for atari forum.
I started to convert some pics from Hein Holt from DB. There results are promissing. To be released soon.
Then I'll go for my own creations at last - I hope wink

Re: Plus/4 World now has "one-liners"...

George,

Check the news on Plus4 World. I made a one liner. Hopefully it's ok and the sort of thing that could and should be added and what Csabo has in mind.

Of course it's being able to post the smaller news items before a new post is made is the tricky part, but I'm sure the comments link can be redirected to any post that's current.

Thinking out loud...
Any news people think that could be posted, it might be worth sending a PM to the admin instead of posting on the forum??

@Csabo: Wonderful idea and i would love to see the one-liners to be used for all the little news...

Re: Plus/4 World now has "one-liners"...

The name "one-liners" made me think about the feature named similarly on Pouët or CSDb where people share their short notices or anything else in a chat-like manner.

Re: Plus/4 World now has "one-liners"...

Where is it? On the front page (at this moment anyway, it will eventually be pushed down by other news items).

How does it work? It's just like adding a regular news item, except you leave the subject empty. In that case, the news item will be displayed in the new shorter format. Otherwise it's still "news", so business as usual. Anyone who has the access of adding news can do this, so go for it and we'll see how it goes.

So... There's several other issues here, all intermingled happy But that's good, we're talking. On Plus/4 World, the forum and the news is always kind of blurred. I prefer if new things are announced in the news (that is, whoever makes something new sends it to us), then that news item gets commented on. Once something has been "announced" on the forum, I'd say it's already known, no point adding news. That's not a "rule" though, since occasionally, if the thing in question is deemed important enough, we go and add a news item anyway, and connect it to the existing forum topic. (See Rocket Science recently.)

George, I think what you're talking about is a personal blog. One person who does this is carrion for example, he puts up some PRG files on his blog. Those we eventually copy and catalog, cause that's what Plus/4 World is: the complete collection. So, if something exists for the C16/Plus4, we should have it. But yeah, I'm not sure if those are "releases", that term is ill-defined.

My idea of one-liners would have been something like this for example: Plus/4 World now has icons for D81 files and ROM files (each would have had a link). That's a nice little feature I added recently, and it's also the kind of things I'd expect from you guys who look at the site to point out and ask for happy It's a minor issue anyway.

One line notice: Sixteen Plus is taking a bit of a backburner here so just call me Baz. It doesn't sound so silly when addressing me wink

Re: Plus/4 World now has "one-liners"...

I think, Csabo means, that the admins have this possibility, for anouncing or commenting the little demos or graphics, if he uploads something on his site.

Perhaps another idea from me:
Sometimes people (like me) do a little graphic oder a little tune, which they want to show or share with people, not because its something special or because they want to show their skills (Lego analogy), but because they had fun doing it and want to share and show the idea of one evening, just to get some resonance or inspiration.

Re: Plus/4 World now has "one-liners"...

Not sure but an "add bulletin" option might be handy. happy

I called it bulletin for a reason because the thought of using the word "tweet" sucks. A tweet is the definition of late arrivals to the internet. grin

Re: Plus/4 World now has "one-liners"...

Yeah, no we will have no excuse for not announcing little things. Lots of times something happens, something minor, but still noteworthy, and I'm thinking: "Can I write a news item for this?" Sometimes it's very hard to come up with 3-4 complete and meaningful sentences - not to mention interesting ones. Well, now we can put little one-liners up.

I guess the forum topic needs a little fixing though, it's weird without one.

 Plus/4 World now has "one-liners"...

Plus/4 World now has "one-liners" or "notices", small news items that are usually not more than a sentence.
