The '82 was in a 1581 type case. I remember telling Jack, that his D-1 sure looked like an Amiga external drive type case. Maybe that's what the design dept had on hand, when they built the proto of that mutant. Anyway, the Rom images for both were sent to Marko at Funet.. years ago.
It's -21F outside our motorhome, I'm out of internet time and this is way off topic... sorry Lando

Nope, one of two. Jack Vanderwhite had #4 0f 6, I had #2 of 6. He also had a 1590-D-1 (some thought he had a 1591). The Rom was a replacement (and a few jumpers) in the 1581, for 1.44megs of storage.

But are you saying that you had the one and only prototype of the high density 1582, that was last heard of in the 90s?

Yes, I second Gaia: Jim, if we have spare time to spend in moaning about SIDcards, that means the alarm threshold is getting down finally, and we all are happy to see you started a new life with your everlasting love

Hey Jim, good to hear that you guys are on the road again together. I knew your wife was seriously ill and glad to hear that she recovered. That's more important than any SID cards.

Yeah, It's Me, Jim... I'm rarely online, but once in a while I pass through. I was just too isolated up here to do anything with the stuff. After my wifes' cardiac accident, back in 2006... the old ways just didn't matter. Ellie survived, and now we are on the road.
Good luck to all!

Hey, you might not need that much C1581s! How much would you sell a C1581 for?

any news about the project? csio needs a sid card because he gives his card to Moldi ages ago.. we have spare sid chip, so we need only the board..

Hi Christian,
great to read that you are active again!
I uploaded the files I had online for my sid-card prototype to a new address: http://www.digital-circuits.org/sid/
The entire logic of the design is implemented in a small CPLD, no TTL chips where harmed. You can find the VHDL source in the directory. It should be possible to infer the external circuit from the VHDL code. Writes to the SID do have to be buffered indeed - this is done within the CPLD and the HC574. Currently reads from the SID are not possible, but I believe that could be implemented by hacking a little. It appears to be possible read from the sid in an asynchronous fashion..
The code also has initial support for a 256kb flash.

Hi Tim,
please can you send me details how to solve the problems with different clocks. I think datas and register-adresses must be stored for a while. Do you have a schematic for your prototype? Is it a "TTL-tomb" I have a (new) handwired prototype-SID-card but it based on the old design, just changes for use with 6581 (other step-up regulator). I think, other developers are also interested in your improvements, so a webspace for the docs would be very nice.
Thank you.

| Re: Interest in a new SID Card ???
So there is both jurek and another person working on a SID card? How about getting both of them into contact? Maybe they could also show a sign of life on this board?
As I said before.. the design is simple, what takes time is to get it to a state were you can make more than one. I think we need as much cooperation as possible on that.
I am still in the warm Texas and will not be able to help with any practical work. But I will be happy to give input and to share the design of the prototype I built some time ago, which fixes a couple of the problems with the old design.

Chris, I guess it would be convenient too have a contact with Bionic, the most preeminent active user concerning the Solder's SIDcard.

| Re: Interest in a new SID Card ???
Hiya all,
Today I received a email from Jurek, and he is over the moon. Last week his wife gave birth to a health and beautiful baby daughter.
Regarding the SID project of his. He is currently waiting for a large batch of 6581 chips to be delivered before he can move forward. But is confident that the project will start moving faster once they get delivered.
He does have a question for the community though, for some reason he can't access plus4.emucamp. The question, is there any original documents from the Solders SID card that discuss the memory locations of the programming as this would really help him?
I'm sending him one of Solders SID cards for test purposes this week.
Thanks alot
Chris

Nevertheless, this sounds quite well !!!
Oh, I forgot: There will be the possibility to use both kinds of the SID (6581 and 8580)... ...but of course not both at the same time !

I think the demand would be great, even though the design of the old SID card is far from optimal. I personally would buy 2-3
He'd be better off if he delivers it without the SID 8580 itself I guess

Sidius search in the forum, and you'll find tons of words spent claiming for a brand new Solder's SIDcard. Personally I wanna buy a couple for sure! Dunno if someone more, but a couple for sure! If a SAINT would try buildin'up an selling new SIDcard models, he'll get my THUMB UP for sure!

| Interest in a new SID Card ???
I wanted to begin once a small Poll:
Who would have interest in one or several SID Cards ??? We have somebody in Germany who has taken care of this project again... The card would be based on the principle of Solder's SID Card (external module for the expansionport with industrially made boards).
Who would have interest and for how many ?
