The serial bus is very unreliable. Transfer speeds (and quality) depends on several factors like cable length/quality. Other devices (when turned off) draw power from the serial lines allowing transfer to be unreliable. My loader (the one used in all TCFS games) can handle multiple devices on the bus so turning them on can help in this case. But unplugging them is the safest solution. 2 |

Well, although we're hopelessly terrible when it comes to playing, we finally managed to reach the end of the level We also reproduced the bug – see the attached photo.
Then we figured out that it's most likely neither a hardware nor a software issue, but simply the Commodore serial bus acting up. If there are multiple devices connected alongside the SD2IEC, and at least one of them is turned off, the loading almost certainly freezes during the second stage. In the case of @Docsland, that device was probably a printer.
All this, even though the issue usually doesn’t occur elsewhere. It likely depends on the specific data being transferred – but at this point, that doesn’t really matter.
Hopefully, when @Docsland gets home and retests it, he’ll confirm this.

I've recently tested PoP on my setup. I was lazy to write it to real disks but I've tried the STM version on my SD2IEC and it worked flawlessly. I didn't do a long play but managed to get to the second level and beat the first enemy there before turning it off. |

PROKY made a pm!
CSABO all other TCFS Games run perfekly!
Also PoP load and run correctly. I only can't play more as Level 1, because plus4 hang up within loading screen for Level 2. No reaction of 1551/1541ii/Sd2iec if the Floppy is alone Connected to Computer or more as 1 is connected.
Hope to Meet Proky live as fast as possible, with carrying Hardware and Software with me, to Show the Problem without language Problem.....
...to be continued.... |

Crazy, maybe you should have tried what you wrote, since that statement results in a ?SYNTAX ERROR Please be mindful and don't add factually incorrect info, this thread is already "noisy" as it is.
Back to actually trying to diagnose what's wrong; @Docsland:
1) Can you please confirm if you're able to run Prince Of Persia from a regular floppy disk drive? Please use either the 1541 II or your 1551, and skip the SD2IEC entirely. This would be an important data point: if this works, the issue may be with your SD2IEC. If this also fails the same way, the issue may be with your Plus/4.
2) Additionally, Pets Rescue uses a different loader, so that's not a good test. Are you able to run other TCFS games such as Turbo Outrun or Giana Sisters? Both of those examples use the same loader as POP.
3) BSz suggested that your SD2IEC might be old. Would you be able to tell us which version of SD2IEC you have, and more importantly, which firmware you're using? |

@Docsland my sd2iec arrives next week. I'm not too far from you - so if you will not find any solution, we can try it with changing hw-elements. |

Did anybodx test the gameplay with 'active joy converter' https://idoregesz.hu/product/db9-joystick-converter-for-c16-and-plus-4/?add-to-cart=706
I work with a Real plus4 machine, 1551, 1541 II, sd2iec, Joystick converter and joypad (cable less) . Game Play runs well the wohle 1st Level, all other games, utilities runs exzellent (pets rescue etc.) , this Problem seems only at PoP after completing the Level!!! |

Try to do something differently. Like put disk images into root folder, try a different SD2IEC, try a different plus/4 or 16+64kB, replace PSU, remove/disconnect additional hardware if any, or anything else you can come up with. |

New Day, New download , same Problem!!!
I deleted all old PoP files from SD card I Download PoP as d.64 Version and as STM Version from P4W , unzip all files, copy the files to separate folders onto sd card. Put sd card into sd2iec and DLoad 1st prg of disc 2! Try RUN (second try with RUN:TRAINER) . GAME Starts correctly. Play 1st Level (take sword/kill soldier/go stairway) Each try ends with a hangup at loading screen (princess chamber). Nett try : Dload 1st prg of STM Version, RUN (RUN:TRAINER) .....PLAY 1st Level.....Same problem: Hang up in the loading Screen.... I take a screenshot wirh my Phone and load it up on Facebook P4W Group.....
I've no more Ideas...... please help |

Yeah, Othersi.de is HTTP and P4W is HTTPS. Anyway, that's why I suggested that before doing anything else, he should have checked the download from other sites (e.g. P4W). Although based on this:
[...] I've found a possibility to download all new stuff once a month with one click I would assume he's not actually downloading via our site, but rather he's using a scraper of some kind. |

I get the mixed content warning on the Javascript console in Chrome, when clicking the otherside download link, I recall we had this issue already at some other places. He might not be downloading anything, and have previous wrong version already somehow, where he is looking at maybe? |

Of course you are allowed to ask questions! Not sure what you mean by "breaking part out of someone's crown", but no one is upset or angry, no crowns have been harmed No one has called your question stupid. We're all trying to help you.
I assume that we're not on the same page because of the language barrier.
(Re: Othersi.de - here's how I assume one would think: so fine, you want to use Othersi.de. Then you run into a problem. I think the first thing you should check is to make sure what you've downloaded is correct; who knows, maybe the file on Othersi.de is corrupt. Therefore would you download the same file from Plus/4 World, and check if that works. If you run into the same problem with the file from Plus/4 World, then (I would assume) you would not even mention where your original file is from - it doesn't matter, the problem is there anyway. I went into this lengthy explanation to be super clear about why I was baffled that you keep mentioning Othersi.de.)
Okay, so I will do what you have asked, I clicked the download, this is what happens:

A popup appears asking me if I want to Open or Save the ZIP file. I will click Open, this is what happens:

The ZIP file contains two clearly named files, exactly as I explained in my previous post. I click the first file, which is the intro, and voila, the intro starts. The second file is the game. There's no mistake in the name of the D64 files. Agreed? |

CSABO: I use othersi.de because i"ve found a possibility to download all new stuff once a month wirh one click....
I know how to load and play. Please don't missunderstand: I want to know if this is a technical problem with my Hardware or anything other!
Please click yourself on the othersi.de Download Button for PoP disc1 and you'll see that you've downloaded not the d64 within the Intro, you will see that it is the d64 disc2 with the Gameplay.....
So there's a mistake in the name of the discs/they are swapped in the download!
Is it allowed to post such a question, it feels like i broke a part out of someones crown.....
If this site is only for the 264er series heroes, then please don't be angry with me, i will never ask something again....
In my opinion everybody who held this wonderful machines alive, should be allowed to ask (sometimes stupid) questions, to complete the fun with his holy commodore 264er....
Sorry, but had to write this to calm down a little |

| Re: Prince of Persia Gameplay
Is there a particular reason why you keep mentioning Othersi.de? (The files are binary exact on all 4 main archives.)
What you are saying about disk 2 makes no sense. There are two files in the zip: prince_of_persia.d64 (disk label: "PRINCE OF PERSIA") - this is disk 1, which contains the intro. prince_of_persia_2.d64 (disk label: "PRINCE -- DISK 2") - this is disk 2, which contains the game.
Both .D64 files are clearly named. Both have clear disk labels. There's absolutely no way to somehow mix them up. Disk 1 (the intro) can be completely skipped, the entire game resides on Disk 2 and will function without the first. |

TCFS : I use Plus4 in Original condition, also 1551. Load and Run 1st prg file from disk 1. Intro etc. works well. Change disk when needed to load gameplay. 1st Level runs well. Get sword, kill 1st soldier, open door to stairway, go upstairs. Then prg tries to load level2 but 1551 didnt Start, plus4 hangs up..... Same in normal or Trainer Mode!
If you Download PoP from othersi.de you will get d.64 of side1 if you take "disk 2" and you download side 2 if you take "disc 1".
My Sd2iec didn't work with the STM download. I read the "read" data about the 'how to do'.... |

Did you try the full workflow? (Start with cracktro, cinematic intro, disk swap, first level) When you reach this point with several successful loading, that means that the problem is not caused by the loader itself. When it hangs after the cinematic intro, I suspect the loader compatibility with your config. Do you have anz fancy ROM extension? Jiffydos or other IO/fastloader cartridge?
BTW for sdiec, I recommend to copy the STM version to your SD card and use that version. It will also work but without the inconvenience of the disk swap after the intro. |

I'm not sure what do you mean. Loading from side 1 it plays the cracktro, the intro and after that it asks you to swap disk. And never again. What's your problem? |

Remark to PoP on Otherside: Disk Img side1 and side 2 (d64! NOT STM) are wrong discripted, site 1 is really site 2 and site 2 is site 1.....!!!?!!! |
