Re: C16+4 Games converted to C64

The C64 version of Dingbat was an eye opener! In my opinion when Shaun and Andrew had more memory to play with on 8bit the more wild things became and not always for the better... With restrictions in place they excelled to almost perfect perfection on C16 though! I never liked the 2 player split-screen Trailblazer either. wink

@ScottC good catch, I added Ghost Town Plus to the above list.

When you're posting, there's a little "Forum Help" link at the top, which explains some stuff about formatting, but basically you can auto-link programs by putting them in double square brackets (e.g. [[Ghost Town Plus]] will become Ghost Town Plus).

As far as I know, Shaun Southern's Trailblazer began life on the C16, and made it to the C64 (and many other places)

The Future Was 8 Bit has an internal model for £30, but it would obviously need some additional work to make it usable.

Thanks for all the feedback.

I don't know how to link to games here, but would Ghost Town Plus count as a backported game?

Re: C16+4 Games converted to C64

There are two lists one could compile. As MIK mentioned, there are many C16 classics where the official C64 original is very similar, essentially it's the same playing experience.

If I understood it correctly, the original question is about the list of games where a C16 version was later "backported" to C64; AFAIK there isn't a whole lot of these. These were mostly done for the games where the official C64 is very different.

And... since no-one tagged these in the database or collected this list yet, I guess this forum thread will be that attempt happy The only other one I remember is Video Meanies, so here the "full list":

Kikstart (T.M.R/2007)
Tutti Frutti (Spider Jerusale/2014)
Video Meanies (Dale/1995)
Ghost Town Plus (Ingo Hinterding/2020)

Re: C16+4 Games converted to C64

The cost of living crisis has bumped the price up. They were £40 each before Covid, now £50

ScottC,

A lot of the old games were on both C64 & C16/Plus4 from the likes of Mastertronic, Anirog, Gremlin Graphics, Codemasters and many more publishers, and even Commodore. Sometimes C16/Plus4 versions were better, most of the time C64 versions offered more, were different, were better and sometimes even worse.

BTW Fire Ant, Icicle Works and Treasure Island are out there for C64.

If you can solder, you can make one pretty cheaply, for instance: https://github.com/hackup/SD2IECplug

I hadn't considered that, but I've had a quick look and see they're about £50, which kinda rules them out for me

I'm sure they're good though.

Re: C16+4 Games converted to C64

Have you considered buying an SD2IEC? That would help you playing loads of C16/Plus4 games not only those that have C64 ports.

 C16+4 Games converted to C64

Does anyone know how to do a search here to find which C16 Plus4 games have been converted to the C64?

I've got a plus4 but can't get downloaded games into it.

But I can put converted games on a USB and load onto my THEC64.

I've got Kikstart, Exorcist & Tutti Frutti already.

Thanks,
ScottC
