Description
The TRACE command, which displays which instruction is being executed within a program, displays its line number on the screen. It is very useful for debugging of complex programs in which it is difficult to reconstruct the execution sequence of the instructions. This function is already implemented on the C16 and on the Plus/4, and is activated with the TRON command and deactivated with TROFF. However, these commands can only be issued while the program is not running; TRACE mode can therefore not be turned on or off while running a program, which is the most necessary mode.

The PAUSE function temporarily stops the execution of the program in progress, resuming it when any key is pressed. Its applications are innumerable. To activate the TRACE mode, which can obviously only be used during a performance, press the Esc key: to deactivate it, press Inst/Del.
