| | Unused Picture | The original C64 game displays a hires bitmap as title picture only in the beginning. This picture has to be build up from some compressed data into the graphic memory area used for the game. Though useless after being read the first and only time, the picture's data don't get deleted or overlapped.
Arguably, the author of the Plus/4 conversion had chosen not to display the title picture just to avoid to convert it from C64 to Plus/4 format and then to compress it the way the program would have required, moreover by adding some code in order to correctly display the picture on Plus/4. That's the reason why forcing the non converted picture to be displayed, the colors matrix looks as incorrect and randomly variable: the original displayer manages the C64 format and does not consider the luminance memory area.
To display the picture using an emulator, enter in Monitor:
