Yep, I was right. It has to be fixed using the scope. The screens looked well on my displays (the 1802 and a Videoton Super Color TV).
Actually, they look worse if I swap the frames. So whether I'd think my routine should be correct (after playing with it again) I can't be sure unless I compare the signal to a valid one.
Or, please tell me if you found a solution.
