Hmmm, I think what really counts, is doing it on your own, and being first is only a very little bonus. So don't bother too much, if you're not the first. :))

We had only two goverment controlled channels for years and they were simply lame (Or just simply not covered my interests), so German and sometimes English channels were the only alternatives. (Ok there are French channels also, but I don't got that language installed,
when I was born. Though there were times I watched TV5, they had a games related programme, and MCM has a manga related one.)
Last year 3 new hungarian commercial channel was started, these are better than the old ones, much styled after the german ones like PRO7, Sat1, RTL (Actually one is controlled by the German RTL), so competition started up, and this had the result that the old ones are starting to keep up a little, so they started to play some art movies (Hal Hartley, Jim Jarmusch) recently, which I like.
I usually watch Sat1 for the Star Trek series (DS9, Voyager), and Pro7 for the hong-kong movies, otherwise not too much.

In the movie theatres here you have a 75% chance that the movie is not dubbed, so you can enjoy the original language. And if one particular movie is dubbed, there is always at least one theatre where you can find it without dubbing.

Hungarian movies are good, that's true.
