Subject: The reincarnation of the cbm-hackers mailing list
Those of you who have subscribed to the cbm-hackers mailing list have probably noticed the absence of postings from that source. The reason is that the old PC that used to serve the list broke down. Since I'm not an undergraduate student any more, and since the university has been enforcing stricter security rules, it seems too difficult to get the list back up and running at hut.fi.

Luckily, MagerValp (Per Olofsson), system administrator at Gothenburg University, Sweden, offered to set up a replacement for the mailing list.
I'm still the list administrator.

Unfortunately the subscriber base of the old list cannot be automatically transferred to the new list, since the only copy of the subscriber list was on the (now broken) server that I have no access to. Everyone has to subscribe to the new list manually by sending a message

subscribe cbm-hackers your.address@somewhere.in.the.net

to the address Majordomo@cling.gu.se. Please send the line in the message body, not in the subject.

The new list will be archived from the beginning. This message will also be posted to the comp.sys.cbm newsgroup, and in a few days to those e-mail addresses from which messages have been posted to the cbm-hackers list.
