I just fixed an 1541C yesterday, so I'm quite happy now (next one _will be an old, half-dead 1571 that I got deficient - I'm fighting with it since yesterday ;-) ). I know 1551's were mostly manufactured with the
1541C 'styled' mech by Newtronics/Mitsumi - though I seem to remember seeing some in pictures with the old mech by Alps. I'd suspect that some of the first 1551's should have been manufactured with the old Alps mech
(since I've also seen 1541 drives from around '85 with this one). From the point of interfaces, the two mechanics are the same. ...Does anyone know if the 1551 utilitizes the Newtronics mech's extra feature, the track0 sensor?
