"DB9 Active Joyconverter for Commodore C16 and Plus/4 machines! Easily convert your mini-din ports to the popular DB9 canon ones! Use your lovely DB9 joysticks with your C16 and Plus/4 all time!
Commodore made a totally different system lines to get working the usual joysticks with the C16 and Plus/4. They are brothers, but half-blood with Commodore 64 machines… Looks like the only difference is the port connector (C64 uses DB9 canon ports, the C16 and Plus/4 uses mini-din 8 pin conns), but the truth is more than! Real answers need to search inside the connectors: There are +5V and gorund lines in both versions near the directions (and the fire button of course), but there is one more line inside the mini-din which is not present with C64, and this is the ‘select’ line. Joysticks with mini-din connectors are switches the directions with appropriate line and select, instead of ground. The converter can captures the signal line comes from the classical DB9 joysticks, emulating it and forwarding all of them to the TED with no risk!
This is why not enough a simple passive pin2pin converter to get working your lovely joysticks gaming with your C16 or Plus/4. Keep away from these passive converters cause your TED maybe halted with a lot of use…
The DB9 Joystick Converter board helps you to save your TED along using classical joysticks with DB9 connectors!
The converter assembled with high quality Texas Instuments main ics with fine quality connectors. Joyconverter is compatible with all types of joysticks!
