|  Regarding Commodrore's ownership of MOS
Hello everyone. Reading the history of Commodore, they said they bought MOS - maker of the 6502. So when Atari,Nintendo,Apple, etc used it, did they get kick backs. There is no mention of it - it should have been a lot of $$ for Commodore.

Commodore made their money on the front end -- MOS's profits went directly to Commodore. Rather than charge (for example) $12 per chip and then expect $1 per chip paid back to Commodore by Atari, Nintendo, etc., MOS simply charged the (kickback included) $13 per chip.
Commodore's financier in the early years, J.P.Morgan, was investigated (and convicted, I believe) of financial fraud. Tramiel himself was investigated but never charged with a crime. With that said, I'm sure that Tramiel's later partner (Irving Gould) made sure that Commodore's books were kept legal and ethical.
