| [OT] C64DTV coming to USA on November 26
comp.sys.cbm newsgroup link via Google.com
The Commodore 64DTV handheld unit is in production now, with release though US television channel QVC on November 26, 2004. QVC is significant because they now own the building that Commodore US used to be in, at 1200 Wilson Drive, West Chester, PA. (If you watch the television show "The Apprentice" with Donald Trump, one of his apprentices' recent "assignments" was to sell items at QVC.)
The unit is NTSC only. First production run is 250,000 units, of which the first 30,000 have been allotted to QVC. The remainder will be sold through other outlets (presumably WalMart, KMart, etc) after Christmas, as QVC has a 30 day exclusive on this unit.
Another reason the 64DTV is significant, is that is was developed by Jeri Ellsworth, developer of the C=1, in cooperation with Tulip and Ironstone.
I will post when QVC has the 64CTV on their website.

QVC's commercial for the Commodore 64 DTV:

Click the "Old School" yellow button inside the yellow box to see the commercial. I didn't hear any sound, however my system is kinda funny about sound sometimes.

At last weekend's Vintage Computer Festival, Jeri Ellsworth stated that QVC is now going to sell all 250,000 C64 DTV units and not just 30,000.
