Borders has decided to sell my book in stores!!! :)

Borders (the major national bookstore chain) has
decided to sell my book "The Rosetta Star" (ISBN:
1411610741) in Borders bookstores _nationwide_
beginning on December 31, 2004!!!

It will be listed under the "Religion & Bible" section
of Borders stores. The information on my book is
listed below (from a printout of Border's online
catalog):

"Title: Rosetta Star: A Novel
Price: $11.98
Availability: Not yet published. Place pre-order now,
or pre-order at the Info Desk.
Format: Trade Paperback
Published: 12/31/2004
Author: Panks, Paul
ISBN: 1411610741

Price of item in the store may vary from price shown."

This is my first officially published work that will
actually appear out in regular bookstores nationwide.
I am extremely happy about this because of all the
negative events of the past two years. I feel like God
has given me a second chance to prove myself to others
and to work on bettering myself as a human being.

My earned royalties on "The Rosetta Star" will be
around $1.20 per book sold (retail or otherwise).

I have plans to move out to Tempe and relocate near
ASU by the beginning of the New Year (2005). I have
contacted numerous newspapers and online publications
seeking a review of my book. A few have responded,
saying they would like to review it. This includes at
least one Christian-based magazine.

As far as being a husband and raising a family, that
will come in time for me. I have no doubt about that.
What's past is past. Such a wonderful blessing would
completely vindicate all of my learning and education
as a human being.

Sincerely,

Paul Panks

Re: Borders has decided to sell my book in stores!!! :)

For those interested, here are additional comments
and clarifications on my new book "The Rosetta Star":

http://my.lulu.com/content/68652

The ISBN (1-4116-1074-1) is correct as listed. A
second ISBN has also been assigned to "The Rosetta
Star". That secondary ISBN is: 1-4116-1097-0

Additionally, to avoid future confusion, "The Rosetta:
a novel" should be "The Rosetta Star" (ISBN:
1-4116-1074-1 and ISBN: 1-4116-1097-0). Thus, all
current inventory of "The Rosetta: a novel" (an older
version of "The Rosetta Star") should be removed and
replaced with "The Rosetta Star" (ISBN: 1-4116-1074-1
and ISBN: 1-4116-1097-0).

The reason I had to assign two ISBNs for "The Rosetta
Star" was due to the fact that I had to make
additional book corrections within the manuscript.
Such corrections were minor, but were significant
enough to assign new ISBNs for "The Rosetta Star".

To recap: "The Rosetta Star" should have the following
two ISBNs assigned to the book: the current
1-4116-1074-1 and the updated 1-4116-1097-0).

Sorry for all of the confusion. I've spent over $300
in the past couple of weeks correcting the manuscript
and getting new ISBNs assigned for "The Rosetta Star".
As this is my first officially published work, I am
learning as I go. Thanks for being patient with me.

Re: Borders has decided to sell my book in stores!!! :)

Weird, I wasn't able to revise this topic.

Anyways:

Just so people aren't confused, "The Rosetta Star" has
undergone at least five manuscript revisions since May
of 2004:

http://my.lulu.com/content/68839

The original title of the book was "The Rosetta: a
novel". However, I changed the title in early August
of 2004 to "The Rosetta Star". It simply sounds a lot
better and makes more sense during the context of the
story.

The pages have been increased from a low of 142 to the
current page count of 237. The previous edition of
"The Rosetta Star" had 157 pages, but the typeface was
far too small to read (hence the increase in font
size). This makes the book far more readable.

Thanks for being patient with "The Rosetta Star". I'm
sure you'll enjoy it.

Re: Borders has decided to sell my book in stores!!! :)

The post is off topic, but I am a Plus/4 and Commodore 64 programmer since at least 1983. I have written many games for both machines, available at:

http://www.geocities.com/dunric/pauladv.html

Also:

Here is "The Rosetta Star" as it appears in Borders
online store. The front cover of the book was actually
(originally) the back cover of the first
couple of editions of the book:

http://www.bordersstores.com/search/title_detail.jsp?id=54580966&srchTerms=the+rosetta&mediaType=1&srchType=Title

I'm glad that Borders finally cleared up the confusion
from multiple editions. I'm still very new at this and
learning as I go.

The book is currently available directly from Lulu
Press at:

http://www.lulu.com/content/68839/

The ISBN is: 1-4116-1074-1

Borders should begin carrying "The Rosetta Star" in
stores beginning on December 31, 2004.

Sincerely,

Paul

Why do you spam every Commodore forum with this?

I certainly will not even consider obtaining a book from the "Religion & Bible" section, especially one written by an american.
