My first Plus 4 was bought in 2002 for the handsome sum of AU$25. My monthly salary at the time was about AU$5k. 1 AU$ = US$0.55 at the time.
My first 264 machine was a C16 given to me Christmas 1985. I believe it was worth approx AU$150 at the time (if memory serves Plus 4's went for about AU$500). Average monthly salary in 1985 was approx AU$1.5k. AU$1 = US$0.85 at the time.

a) My parents bought the Plus4 xmas 1984.
b) The Plus4 was £100 and came with 11 games, 2 joysticks and a 1531. How ever the C16 was £130 and came with the C16 starter pack (2 tapes) and a 1531. The Plus4 was the best deal in the UK.
c) A guess.... £500 ?? I dont honesty know as I was still at school.
The C64 was £300 at this time which was the machine I really wanted before I had to make do with a Plus4. I've never looked back.

My parents also purchased my first Plus/4 for me Christmas 1984. It was $299.95 at Sears Roebuck. The second one was purchsed for my little brother a year later from a liquidator for $99.95. 1541 disk drives were $299.95 in 1984, $199.95 a year later, for comparison.
At the time my father was earning approx $500-600 per week, or $2000-2400 per month. Since my father was a long-distance driver, his pay varied depending on how far he travelled and how long he needed to drive to reach the destinations.

Ohhh. The cost of my first computer what was a c16 (16k without memory expansion) with a 1531 datasette is about 12'000 huf. I'm not sure about the month payment in 1987 in Hungary... approx. 5000-10000 huf. I think.

I've never had a brand new plus/4 because I got a Commodore 16 with a 1531 yet back in 1985 that was later expanded to 64KB. It was bought for HUF 8000 by my parents... I am not sure about the salaries in those days, but on today's value the price must be around 130 euros.

Got my Plus4 in August 1986, the same package as Lando. (Except my copy of Icicle Works didn't work and had to be replaced).
I originally wanted a C64, but my sister already had one, so I decided there wasn't much point in having two C64's in the house.
Not sure how much it cost or what the salaries were like at the time, as it was for my 8th birthday
I also remember the first two games I bought for it, Mr Puniverse and Hektik.

The first game I bought was Mission Mars
I know my parents didn't have much money as I also have a brother and sister so I was only too glad just to get a computer!
I was 14 years old at the time, had 3 paper rounds and a collection round which payed for the the games up until I left school. Once I left school I started work within 2 weeks and bought a C64 not long after.
The Amiga had to wait!! £500 for a computer was out of reach! I did not believe in spending that much on a computer so I waited until around 1990-ish before I got one. The same thing happened when I was looking at PC's about 7 years ago. My Amiga lasted the test of time

The Plus/4 was my first Computer ever before I collected LCD games (I almost had 5-6 different games, still archieving them in my cupboard). My parents bought my Plus/4 in a big cardboard box with stretcher latch in the famous german department store "Karstadt" for 150 DM (approximately 75 €). This package contained a Plus/4, Datasette, 2 Books (Operating instructions and a book about Basic) and the "Basic Course" in german on Tape.
I remember my first game "Thrust". We paid 9,99 DM (5 €) for this game but it didn't work. Not because a damaged tape but a wrong adjusted Datasette (my cousin could load the game). So I must get along with the Basic Course on my first real "Computer day" until my father adjust it to manufacture status next day.
What a luck if you've a television technician as father.

Dawn, I forgot to post the date we bought it. I remember it was Eastern 1988, very late regarding the amazing success of the C64 which I didn't consider nearly because I didn't looked around the computer marked before or viewing any game or Demo on C64 or Amiga or somewhere else. I just wanted the Plus/4 because my cousin had it and I saw and play the first games at him. I remember the first game I ever saw on Plus/4 was "Xargon Wars" but I'm not 100% sure.
1983 I already played with an Atari VCS 2600 for some weeks wich my father sold in shop this time. But I make a clear line between the Console and Computer world.

I ask my father about the monthly payment in 1987 and he said 6000-8000 huf. Also he confirmed the computer's price: 12000 huf. Unexpanded C16.

My firstie has been an unexpanded C-16 (that I still have ).C16 + 1530 Datasette + interface + a QuickShot-II joystick. 1988 September 30. 1990ATS (Wien). ...Hmmm, as for the average monthly salary, you better ask easier questions... .
As for my first _Plus/4_, I bought it back in 1996 for some of ~1000HUF (with blown CPU and TED).

When I was 13, I finished my primary school, and I decided to have a Commodore. A friend of mine had shown me the Plus/4, and I loved it from the first second! Thus, I asked it to my parents; keep in mind that my parents know me as "the son who had no buyable desires", hence when I asked a computer, they had run out in order to take it to me! I paid +4 and 1531 mmmm.... 450000 lira (about 220 Euros).
