There are already several pieces of software that actively use loading from this device, but not yet a general purpose fastloader. I always wanted to make one of these, to see what I could get out of it. This minimalist version was made first, but it may will be the most useful.
The whole stuff is 2 blocks, relatively quick to load. Then the actual loading is at a reasonable speed, and I made a short video of it:
Here on the forum, the loading of block 239 was previously used as a "benchmark". As you can see in the video above, this fastloader loads the 239 blocks in about 4 seconds. (Out of curiosity, I checked it with the screen on. In that case the loading time is around 5 seconds. But with a fastloader, the screen on is rarely consideration.)
The loader uses 1-bit synchronous data transfer, so multiple devices can be connected to the serial bus. In principle, because I forgot to test it for the moment. The "F.PRG" in the package will automatically load and start "FB16.PRG" after it is started. This is our version of CBM FileBrowser, anyone who uses it knows what it's for.
