 Plus/4 World downtime

The site is/was experiencing problems today (2024-07-19) and was down for a couple of hours. We're aware and we're working on it! Sorry for the inconvenience.

Edit: the site is pretty much back to normal, if you do see any issues (i.e. random PHP error messages on pages) please let me know.

 Re: Plus/4 World downtime

I can't put a post on the forum. I press Preview and get Fatal error: Uncaught ArgumentCountError: Too few arguments to function AutoTag(), 1 passed in /hermes/walnacweb05/walnacweb05ac/b846/pow.plus4world/htdocs/forum-post.php on line 696 and exactly 2 expected in /hermes/walnacweb05/walnacweb05ac/b846/pow.plus4world/htdocs/main.php:1243 Stack trace: #0 /hermes/walnacweb05/walnacweb05ac/b846/pow.plus4world/htdocs/forum-post.php(696): AutoTag('It seems that t...') #1 {main} thrown in /hermes/walnacweb05/walnacweb05ac/b846/pow.plus4world/htdocs/main.php on line 1243

I wanted to make a joke about the fact that your first sentence is self-contradictory, but that's all right... Anyway, thank you, this has been fixed.

Hey Csabo, thank you for the heads up! As far as I can see, https://plus4world.powweb.com/pm still throws me Fatal error: Uncaught ArgumentCountError: Too few arguments to function SearchSection(), 0 passed in /hermes/walnacweb05/walnacweb05ac/b846/pow.plus4world/htdocs/pm.php on line 408 and exactly 1 expected in /hermes/walnacweb05/walnacweb05ac/b846/pow.plus4world/htdocs/pm.php:22 Stack trace: #0 /hermes/walnacweb05/walnacweb05ac/b846/pow.plus4world/htdocs/pm.php(408): SearchSection() #1 {main} thrown in /hermes/walnacweb05/walnacweb05ac/b846/pow.plus4world/htdocs/pm.php on line 22

Fixed, thank you!

Sorry that these keep popping up, the site has a lot of not-so-often used nooks and crannies happy

 Re: Plus/4 World downtime

Hi Csabo
Thanks for your great efforts to support our small community. However my sentence is not contradictory, it's just incomplete, it can mean "I can't put a post to the forum normally". happy
BTW the text tags like [b] do not still work.

No worries, I got you happy

Hmm, where and why are you trying to use "[b]" as a tag? The forum help (linked on the post page) clearly shows that to make the text bold, one has to use <b>.

 Re: Plus/4 World downtime

There was some downtime again today, the problem is with our host. They are working on it. There might be some limited functionality. Apologies once again!

 Re: Plus/4 World downtime

This time it was strange, reading the "news" about it on the site during the downtime. Which made me thinking (again) about the (far) future of this database... Regarding the inevitable and unfortunate future events concerning all of us (see the beginning of the outro of False Idols to get an idea) there should be a "plan" on how to maintain the accessibility of this database as a memento of this 8bit era. I have been thinking about it for a long time now but these downtimes gave me a push again. So what I had in mind was a kind of foundation or something similar that would provide enough financial resources in a sustainable way for a long time (decades, centuries?) to maintain the site after we can't... Any thoughts?

 Re: Plus/4 World downtime

I can manage it for now, but thanks.

The host (powweb) removed PHP from the site, without which the site can't function. I was on support with them the whole day, very frustrating. I wanted to give the visitors some indication that the problem was being worked on, hence that temporary error page.

Thanks and appreciation for your efforts. (bow) Why do they think, it is a good idea making their customers jump through hoops? (facepalm)
