 Re: Plus/4 XL

Excellent demo from the work of many people!

Big thanks to Siz, Chronos and Csabo for putting this demo together.
It's been great to see over the last two weeks how much life Csabo's music and the audio-visual sync has brought to our eclecltic demo parts, and how much the animations add to the production's atmosphere.

It's a particular pleasure to have 3 returning democoders. Welcome back LBM, Rachy and Xentrix!

Also, we are honored to Lethargy member joining the project. Thanks guys and hope to see more Lethargy releases from you on this machine!

It was a pleasure being part of this great production! I was and I am still excited and overwhelmed of the kindness of you people!! I had some moments when I really thought I couldn't make it in the end but then Chronos gave me a lot of motivation and inspiration to continue... And of course special thanx to you Murphy for your knowledge and strong advices, that was very helpful! Finally it was a lot of fun coding again on this machine for so many years... I promise this will not be a one off moment. I am open minded for other projects in the future.

Incredible demo!

Huge respect to Siz, Chronos and Csabo for putting this together and all who put in the effort and coded the effects.
I think it is pretty unique what Csabo did with the transitions, it's almost like a DJ set, there aren't many demos like this.
There are many great ideas implemented here, I love every second of it.

Thank you guys!

Here is a link to the Twitch rip, I will remove the file in a few weeks, so please download it.

 Re: Plus/4 XL

Finally had some time to watch this and... congrats! It might not be the most spectacular demo ever, but sure it is a very nice tribute to the whole life of the machine and of the demoscene (... so far, heheh!).

I really liked the music, with all those tributes to hits from the '80s/'90s (I recognized Smalltown Boy, Domino Dancing and Mr. Vain, there's probably more!), well done!

Oh, and thanks for the greetings, I really didn't expect it! I think it's my first time being mentioned in a demo!

On a side note: can anyone explain this Flamingo thing? I'm not sure I get it... headscratch

 Re: Plus/4 XL

so basically, Commodore Világ was a popular paper mag at the time and one of the editors was "CovBoy" he handled the mail section. We guess it was Proky (not sure, not confirmed) who wrote letter about being a Plus4 owner and objected to the way they talked about his favourite. Covboy said it was an ugly duckling, and then the Plus4 users got angry, and he said it was a flamingo soaring in the clouds.

 Re: Plus/4 XL

This demo is a heartwarming masterpiece, I was really thankful you spent a part for our fallen heroes. Those PETSCII anims are really great! Not to mention the other part made me smile, when the different generations played with the Trailblazer. Maybe I missed grandpa from the picture, who bough us this great computer happy

BTW we should be very thankful for CovBoy (CovBoi? happy ) for the flamingo idea, as we got a mascot like Sega (Sonic), Nintendo (Mario, Kirby, Mega man, Zelda) or Sam Coupe.
(BTW I found the full mail section text, but do not want to OFF this thread too)

Though there were several iconic games on other Commodore computers, none of them became a real mascot figure (maybe Amiga the Boing ball, but that's not a "living" mascot, Zool was very close, ).
This demo's parts engage us further with the flamingo mascot, and I really like the idea happy

Ohhh, now I understand! Thanks @Chronos and @MMS for clearing things up for us non-Hungarians!

 Re: Plus/4 XL

A little bit more attention to the details, please, gentlemen. grin CoVboy is the correct form of the name. CoV comes from the magazine's title, Commodore Világ.
