Yeah that's the idea. If there is room maybe something thicker. The later 48K ZX Spectrums..., they added an aluminium style plate that stat on the main CPU to stop the chips burning out. It stretched across to the back of the mother board. Obviously just a small version for plus4.
I added 3 rubber washers with small holes just big enough for the back screws to go in and added them to the back of the Plus4. Still the original screws, they are lightly pinched tight. Nothing added to the front screws so they are normal but again lightly tight and they all hold it in place, just the back screws the washer were added.
As long as your not moving your Plus4 all the time this does work and adds more space/air, typing like this was fine and you don't see the larger gap when sat in front the Plus4.
