Imagine that your C16 could be upgraded to:
A) stabled expansion 64k RAM
B) From an already 64k expanded C16: a switch to choose 16k/64K
C) switchable TV system: NTSC/PAL
D) switchable jiffydos
In percentage: how much do you feel those upgrades interesting?
examples: my percentages are....
A)=95%
B)=15%
C)=45%
D)=80%

Although I don't have any C16s and probably won't in the foreseeable future either, I have a bit of imagination. What about building an internal User Port expansion? Most probably there is enough space to accommodate the necessary case cut and connector assembly fastening.

For me I already have those mods on my C16. I imagine SID integration should be great, build in SD2IEC (or Pi1541). And joyadaptermodule, compact and close to the case. Flasheproms with functionkey startup. Wifimodem.

Not sure if this helps, but I'd rather reply with this than have you guys think "no-one is even reading my posts": I don't actually own any C16s. So personally that's a zero from me across the board - but I'm happy to hear about new developments and will support them in any way I can.

Sorry to not answer your question properly, but the upgrade that I would most be interested in would be a cartridge that I could connect to my PC and then use it to "stun" the C16, write to the RAM and then reset it under control of the PC. That would be super useful for testing cross-assembled code without having to use an emulator.

I got these upgrades from you (thanks!) next to new CPU. Very nice add-ons, next to the low power consuming EPROMs instead of hot original ROMs.
I agree would be great to add
-internal microIEC to the machine, and
-Atari style joystick adapter with integrated TED protector.
Update:
Well, I may add the followings :-)
-Cooling fan for the Plus/4, that may fit into the power limitation of tape or user port
-Maybe AY sound card integrated next to TED? May keep the Expansoin port free for other developments
