| Krill Loader and VICE
Hi!
ok I know that Vice Plus/4 is a piece of crap but I'm very surprised that the latest Krill loader version (v166) doesn't work with it. I have no problem with Yape, Plus4Emu and real hardware of course.
Have you experienced more success than me with this loader and Vice?
Would you recommend BitFire instead ? for IRQ loader and compatibility ? (at least with emulators)
Even if it is bad I would prefer that my prod at least loads correctly in Vice....
Thanks.

I recovered a very old test I did with Krill's loader, a very simple one indeed, and once tested it with VICE 3.2 it worked. Anyway, after the Pets Rescue experience, I would say bitfire+4 all the life!

Dunno anything about Krills redo of his loader and plus4 vice. As Luca stated bitfire is for us the superior option. You got 1551 and 1541 fast loading and on top of that you can write some single blocks to the disc. Whats actually pretty cool for highscores and so on. Referencing files by a number is also easier than specifying a string for the filename.

Why don't you try siz's loader? It works with almost everything, even on sd2iec drives!

siziolibv3
pros: broad compatibility cons: krill's loader is faster
---
Loader features
file name based (first two characters of name are checked) you can load files in any order you can load files from an SD2IEC directory natively IRq loader you can interrupt loading any time uses serial protocol based on number of serial drives detected TODO: currently only the multi-drive protocol is implemented for parallel and TCBM interfaces the number of drives is not important and not used DOS compatible, sector based (NOT A TRACKLOADER) this ensures compatiblity with non-GCR drives but it's not so fast

Hi,
I think Bitfire+4 works with Vice's xplus4, but you can try the test disks yourself (test_plus4_*.d64) found here:
https://github.com/dotscha/bitfire/tree/master/testing
The benefit of Bitfire is 1541/1551 support, small resident (2 blocks at most after install), speed and simplicity. The other loaders from Krill and SIZ has more features and support more hardwares. Krill's loader is also pretty fast.
