Any info on creating ROM images to replace the built in applications?

I'm interested in swapping out the built in applications for something of my own.
Is there any info on creating a ROM image to do this?
(place bytes at a certain address, make a certain address the start address, etc...)

*edit*
I'm not interested in how to create an image, just what the system needs to identify a valid ROM. System software stuff

That's for a cartridge ROM, not an internal ROM. I'm sure they are similar, but identical?

Re: Any info on creating ROM images to replace the built in applications?

I made an experiment. I downloaded the 3-PLUS-1 LOW ROM, and replaced the first 16 bytes with this:
4C 0A 80 4C 0A 80 01 43 42 4D EE 19 FF 4C 0A 80
Then I configured YAPE to use this ROM in ROM C1 Low slot. The result was some garbage on the screen and running colour bars in the border. I would think this proves that there is no difference between internal and external ROMs.

@JamesD, the internal slots are checked for valid ROMS, just like external ROM (cartridge) slots are, on power up. You can take Script/Plus or LOGO ROMS, drop them into the 3-Plus-1 sockets, put the 3-Plus-1 ROMS in the cartridge, and each will work. happy

@Gerliczer, some ROMS might be bank-dependent. The Octoasoft Basic 7.0 ROM *must* reside in YAPE's C3 Low, same place the Speech ROM has to be. Neither will work if in any other slot.
