Re: Árok 2015 - August 14-16 - Ajka, Hungary I'm pretty sure I won't be able to make this year either, and a release is also pretty unlikely. However, I'm very excited to hear that (at least) two new products will be shown
Re: Árok 2015 - August 14-16 - Ajka, Hungary I'll go and plan to bring a (short) demo but no promises there as I still don't have much time for plus/4 coding. (Ok, I'm working on something for the plus/4 but it's not a demo)
Re: Árok 2015 - August 14-16 - Ajka, Hungary If I counted correctly, there will be 5 Plus4world members at the show, all of them with Hungarian mother tongue.
Any chance to meet somebody there from other countries?
I'll be on vacation in Austria during that time and would like to pay the show a visit. Would be a 3 hours ride from my holiday accomodation but why not?
Would make sense for me, however, only if Plus/4 enthusiasts besides of demo makers will be about. The Hungarian demo scene probably maybe quite nice & active but doesn't mean anything to me.
Re: Árok 2015 - August 14-16 - Ajka, Hungary Well, Csio is not going, he is on his house building project, and yes i tried several times but he was tuff guy and answered no. I'm the other who not going this year, my heart is bleeding, but my flat renewal project killed my time, my money and everything. On the other hand, i'm currently working on my usual Arok piccy nightly and hoping i'll finish it until the deadline.. I'm also packed a fine demo collie to the organizers for the plus4 demoshow..
Important note!
If you have a remote entry to the party compo, please send it to: arok@c64.rulez.org !!!! Subject remote entry, and please include a brief description.. thanks!
Re: Árok 2015 - August 14-16 - Ajka, Hungary FYI I'm working hard to finish my pic for Arok gfx compo. (+4 MFLI) Hope I'll finish it tonight and send to Arok orgs.
I even bloged about it with some images sneaking in.... http://retronavigator.com
Re: Árok 2015 - August 14-16 - Ajka, Hungary We don't have too many plus/4 folks here. I met Crafty only. And beside mine there is only one plus/4: the compo machine which does not even have a power supply. :/
On my part there is no release so it seems that we will have graphics only.
Re: Árok 2015 - August 14-16 - Ajka, Hungary We've shown Evo Lution on my computer (yes, it still requires the unique addon made by BSz but other than a stock plus/4 is enough to run it). People's jaws was dropped again.
Re: Árok 2015 - August 14-16 - Ajka, Hungary More pictures ripped from the stream: /BSZ,Stinky,Siz,TLC,Murphy/ -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Re: Árok 2015 - August 14-16 - Ajka, Hungary Just returned from Croatia (8 days without real internet, nooooo) and nice pics waiting me from Arok. Thanks, Guys! ( and even more: thanks for being present on this important party, representing the Plus/4 team! )
Re: Árok 2015 - August 14-16 - Ajka, Hungary Aw great, just missed the price-giving by approx. 1 second (Clarence won something then it was over. aargh )
Re: Árok 2015 - August 14-16 - Ajka, Hungary The first (and possibly only?) release is now out (check New Stuff or the home page). There's some rumors about other stuff, but not knowing what's public, I'll let people say what they will of their own upcoming releases
Re: Árok 2015 - August 14-16 - Ajka, Hungary Yeah... I didn't make it in time. But... This week I'm at home and will work on the image that was supposed to be gfx compo entry at Arok. Will release it this week. So stay tuned.
Re: Árok 2015 - August 14-16 - Ajka, Hungary Are the official results out yet? CSDb has 8 pictures up, with a gap at #4, so this might mean that Chronos' piccy came in 4th.
Re: Árok 2015 - August 14-16 - Ajka, Hungary Yes, the only release for the 264 series was the picture from Chronos. And indeed it came 4th. I cannot really agree with the result but Leon will always have the first place at Árok due to friendly voting independently of what he draws. But we saw the same last year in the wild compo. IMHO Evo Lution was much more amazing than the laser show but that ran on a C64. But of course this is my opinion only.
Re: Árok 2015 - August 14-16 - Ajka, Hungary Have to agree there, and it seems so does CSDb. According to the votes, Grass' picture was the best, the Reekol's, and Leon's is a distant 3rd. They are all very nice pieces of art though, I hope Grass releases his for the Plussy. And as for Chronos' picture, IMHO this is the best one from him so far, I really like it.
Re: Árok 2015 - August 14-16 - Ajka, Hungary Hehe. I agree with Siz. On Árok party is always c64 domination on compos, because there are lot of c64 guys vs 4-5 plus/4 users. Graphic compo of Árok party is Leon's own home compo. See c64 pictures on csdb, Grass's or Reekol's picture are better than Leon's (imho), but Leon won. And see score of pictures on csdb too...
Re: Árok 2015 - August 14-16 - Ajka, Hungary This reminds to me Arok 2005, when the organizers were in search of another SID music in order to have a valid compo for Vincenzo: he deservedly had won of course, and my cover of the "Star Trek: Enterprise" opening theme did fall forever in the oblivion. I was so proud of it
Cover compo 1. "My cup of tea" by Reekol (45pts) 2. "Relive tape cover" by Jootka (36pts)
Remix compo 1. "Supremacy" by Ziona (76pts) 2. "Golden Axe" by Teo (65pts) 3. "Mindflow - Wooloop" by Vincenzo (62pts) 4. "MSI demo" by Necropolo (48pts) 5. "Electrifying" by Deák Attila (23pts)
Music compo 1. "Bandhagen" by Soya (71pts) 2. "Lumber" by Necropolo (64pts)
Graphics compo 1. "Before haircut" by Leon (98pts) 2. "Iaaku" by Reekol (90pts) 3. "Lonely tree" by Grass (83pts) 4. "The road not taken" by Chronos (47pts) 5. "Squid in trouble" by Chesser (35pts) 6. "Bingo the clown" by Crayon (29pts) 7. "Eccarvu" by Babyfoot (16pts) 8. "Lemmings Memories" by Chesser (5pts)
Demo compo 1. "Rocketry" by Chorus (167pts) 2. "Ditch" by Resource (145pts) 3. "Relive" by SIDRip Alliance (112pts)
** I'm very happy with the 4th place, thanks for the continous support guys! **
Re: Árok 2015 - August 14-16 - Ajka, Hungary I saw Grass picture on FB, it is really nice. I will check the rest too.
On the side notes: Grass typically uses -as I see- NUFLI, While the finished result could look much better than a HIRES, MCI or FLI one, technically speaking it is much harder to make a HIRES picture look nice. The insider voters may reflect this in the numbers, while the "average" users (if such group still exists on Commodores) just see the end result, frequently even not on real iron or via emulator, just give the vote based on the screenshot on the page. An interlaced picture on a projector/beamer may look really different than a non interlaced one, but you can see the difference only on real iron. (too) It may influence votes too.
